OW Simon de Bell visits Whitgift after 40 years

Simon de Bell (OW 1972 – 1980) returned to visit Whitgift from his hometown Melbourne, Australia 42 years after leaving Whitgift to study at Reading and Lincoln College, Oxford.

Simon went on to pursue a successful career in manufacturing and power automation technology, most recently working as a Spiritual Carer at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

Visting Windsor to see his mother, who used to be secretary to Michael Barnes, Clerk to the Whitgift Foundation, Simon wanted to visit Whitgift ‘likely for the last time’.

“Walking along the corridors brought back memories, I suspect that the key ingredients to a Whitgift education remain unchanged, the professionalism and care of the teaching staff encouraging students to perform to the best of their ability in whatever field they pursue.”
